Three simple steps
From "I should look at my policy" to "I know what to ask."

Get information, then decide
Get plain-language coverage information and general ideas for managing costs. You decide what, if anything, to do next.
Six terms worth knowing
General summaries. Your actual policy wording and your state's rules always control.
Liability
Pays for injury or damage you cause to other people and their property. Most states require some amount. Limits matter: higher limits can protect more of your finances if a serious accident happens.
Collision
Helps pay to repair or replace your own vehicle after a covered crash, subject to your deductible. Often required if the car is financed or leased.
Comprehensive
Covers certain non-collision losses to your vehicle, such as theft, hail, fire, or hitting an animal, subject to your deductible and policy terms.
Uninsured / underinsured motorist
Can help when the at-fault driver has no insurance or too little. Availability and rules vary by state.
Medical payments / PIP
Can help with medical costs for you and passengers after an accident, regardless of fault, depending on your state and the option you choose.
Optional extras
Roadside assistance, rental reimbursement, gap coverage, and similar add-ons. Useful for some drivers, unnecessary for others.

A lower premium isn't automatically a better deal
If one option has lower liability limits, a higher deductible, or fewer protections, the price gap may reflect a different policy rather than a better one. To judge a price fairly, look at it next to the protection and out-of-pocket cost that come with it.
- Same liability limits
- Same deductibles

Questions people ask first
What is Coverelo?
Coverelo is an information website for drivers. We explain auto insurance in plain language, share general ways drivers can manage the cost of coverage, and let you opt in to updates by email or text. We are not an insurance company, agency, or broker.
Is Coverelo an insurance company?
No. Coverelo does not sell, price, bind, underwrite, or service insurance policies, and we cannot make coverage or claims decisions. Policies are issued by insurance companies and sold by agents and brokers.
Will I save money?
We can't promise that. Auto insurance prices depend on many factors, and a lower price can reflect different coverage limits or a higher deductible rather than a better deal. Coverelo does not guarantee any rate, discount, or savings.
Do I have to agree to text messages?
No. The two text-message boxes on our form are optional and unchecked by default. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchase or of requesting information.
Ready to take a closer look at your coverage?
Tell us a little about you and your vehicle. It's free, there's no obligation, and you can opt out of texts any time by replying STOP.
